The Dream
The Reality...

Below is the info that the developers of Bon Secour Village announced originally:
"I saw this as an opportunity to create something without all the riff-raff and bad side of some of Destin and Panama City..." Clint Guthrie of Birmingham-based Guthrie Development.
Bon Secour is French for 'Safe Harbor'. Bon Secour Village is designed to be literally a town within a town. Plans include parks, residential areas, shops, restaurants and courtyards. The streets will be brick stone and lined with gas-lamp lights. Activities will emphasize families and children and the design will be pedestrian friendly.
Bon Secour Village will encompass 985 acres and in 2005 it was predicted to be 90% complete in 10 years.
The style for houses will focus on Old South traits...tall windows, intricate gingerbread and large porches. It will be reminiscent of New Orleans.
Well, hmmm... we do not know what will become of Bon Secour Village now that the original development went bust and the property has been sold. We will add updates as we learn of them.
